“Humanity has opened the gates of hell,” U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said Wednesday, opening a special climate ambition summit with yet another plea for action. “ Horrendous heat is having horrendous effects. Distraught farmers watching crops carried away by floods. Sweltering temperatures spawning disease. And thousands fleeing in fear as historic fires rage.”

The United Nations Sustainable Development and COP goal has been to keep global warming to within 1.5 degrees C. But the target continues to be elusive.
Numerous governments, forums, and companies are all talking about the problem, for example: how to implement low carbon systems, legislate for an effective carbon credit system, or develop circular economies.
Agencies involved range from the United Nations to the IMF, World Bank, USA Department of Agriculture and the Climate Action Network that in turn represents over 1300 Non-Governmental Organisations.
Despite all the rhetoric few organisations and companies can demonstrate field proven and comprehensive engineering solutions that are enduring and work at scale to mitigate climate change and environmental issues.
CaSil Technologies Ltd (CaSilTech) is one of the few companies to demonstrate a working science and engineering solution.
The CaSil technology begins with significantly increasing the amount of clean heat energy able to be recovered from geothermal resources. In turn this enhances the amount of electricity that can be generated, and the amount of hot water available for direct heating usage. In total, significantly increasing the resource utilisation and cost-efficiency.
CaSilTech achieves this by mitigating the worldwide problem of silica deposition from geothermal water. The silica scaling blocks pipes, heat exchangers and reinjection wells, severely limiting the extent to which the hot water can be cooled and the amount of heat energy that can be extracted and electricity generated.
The patented technology continuously captures the problematic silica, before it can deposit. The proprietary nanostructured calcium silicate material thus formed is separated and used to manufacture innovative products that enhance the environment. For example, more effective and efficient smart fertilisers, and for recovering valuable metals from mining and industrial waste streams. Also, as an additive to rubber to reduce rolling resistance and save fuel/electricity, as a filler in paint, in paper to enhance print quality, and in buildings to provide insulation and moisture control.
CaSilTech has Granted and Applied-for-Patents that cover a complete Circular Economy approach.
The “circle” is formed by enabling more heat energy to be extracted and electricity generated through capturing the silica stream to form the basis for new and unique smart fertiliser products. These provide more efficient fertiliser use, inhibit nutrients from entering waterways, and assist in protecting the quality, cultural and recreational values of surface and subsurface water resources for future generations.
